First Niche Site Using Some New Procedures to Combat Mayday

I picked my niche for my first site that I am going to build to combat the Mayday changes. I will be putting a lot of effort into this one site which is something kind of new for me. I usually just kept pushing out new sites and didn’t focus much on building them up. I will still share my site with you guys and all the details about what I do to them to promote them. I will only be doing one site at a time now and not start a new one until this one succeeds to my expectations or I declare it an complete failure. I have not decided yet how much it needs to earn to be considered a winner and move on to another site. I will think on that and let you know soon.

So far I got the site up with a custom header and one welcome post. I loaded it up with WordPress 3.0 which was just released yesterday. It is totally awesome! I love the new themes API! this revolutionizes themes in WordPress. I am not going to spend a ton of time explaining… just install it and checkout the new theme called Twenty Ten. That is the theme I used on this new niche site.

My next step is to do some more keyword research and get some articles on order.

I think this is going to be a fun process for me as I share with you how I build up this niche site. I just hope that it turns out for the best and at the end you will be able to see exactly what procedures I took to create a successful niche site for EPN.

Niche Site 23 – Using New Niche Finder Keyword Import Plugin

I mentioned my new plugin that pulls in keywords to post titles from the CSV file exported from Micro Niche Finder in my previous post. So far I am liking this new plugin that I created the other night.

I just put together, Wholesale Pool Pumps. I found niche using Micro Niche Finders brainstorming feature. Then created a list of about 75 keyords using the same tool.

Niche Site 22 – Back to the Basics

So here it is a very basic one of my niche sites, Vintage Table Lamp Store.

This site pulls in as many current eBay titles as I want and sets those titles up as the titles for past or future wordpress posts. I don’t put any content into these past or scheduled wordpress posts. What I do is use API’s to then use those titles that I got from eBay to generate content.

I removed all my Yahoo API’s from this site since I was having issues with them. I was using Yahoo to get related search terms. For now I am going to stay away from dynamic related items and dynamic related searches. I don’t feel like worrying with the API’s not working or hitting my monthly limits. Instead I will just focus on autoposting the eBay titles that are very niche focused.

Tomorrow I am going to revisit this site again and add some API or RSS content from places around the net. Most likely this will only show when no eBay auctions are available to be shown for the title keywords. This would happen when the auction for that title ends and I no other auctions contain the same keywords.

I wanted to get this posted tonight though because I want to see how long it takes Google to pick up the site after I make this post. According to Googles blog this should happen pretty darn quick not that Caffeine is in full swing.

I Need to Get Back to Work!

Man when I slack off I do it like a champ. It has been almost 2.5 months since I put any hard work into EPN. Boy does it ever show in my earnings. June is shaping up to just plain suck. Traffic might soon be non-existent at this rate. I really want to blame Google Mayday but I can’t since I stopped working. Did the traffic just dry up because I was not putting out new sites? Or was it because of Mayday? I have been reading about how Mayday affected a lot of people using long tail keywords like I am.

So I guess there is only one way to tell… start putting out sites again and see what happens. This is exactly what I plan to do starting asap. I also plan to build up one site with original content and see how that works for me like I mentioned in my last post. Actually I posted 5 original articles on one of my blogs and also got 2 articles approved on some major article banks. Not really seeing any improvement yet from those efforts though.

I really want to do the original content thing and have it work and actually have some stuff stick and hold a position in Google but it takes so long to see results! If I can make $3k or more a month throwing up blogs for 1 year and then just let them expire… well then I guess I should do that too. It is work though that will not create a residual income. Hmmm… what to do…. Well for now I think I will just try my hand at a little of both…

Time For Some Changes

I took over 2 months off from working my EPN sites. I went from making over $3k to probably making just over $1k this month. I can’t say that making $1k this month is bad considering I didn’t actually do any work this month. My problem with it is that next month it might be $500 and eventually $0. Why is this? Probably because my sites suck and have no content. Sooner or later G figures that out and stops sending traffic to them.

I have proven that you can make money with thin sites like mine. I know I could hit $5k in a month if I really pushed and had the time. But to keep earning those numbers I would have to keep working real hard and always be creating new sites to stay ahead of G. Truth be told I am getting tired of doing that.

So here is what I plan to do. I am going to take 2 or 3 of my best sites and transform them into content sites. Then probably add another 2 or 3 new content sites to the mix. I hate writing content so I am going to use a service to do it. I will be placing content on the sites as blog posts and then show related eBay auctions. Every post will be based around a specific set of keywords that I will be choosing from Micro Niche Finder. I also plan on posting some articles to sites like ezinearticles.com and articlebase.com. This should help build up some backlinks.

So there you have it. I am going to try and do it the right way for once and see how it goes. I had some sites that earned over $1k in a months time. My plan is to build up 5 sites or so that all earn about $1k per month from EPN. Then with good content and backlinking just maybe they will have more reliable traffic.

I already have about 15 articles/posts ordered and I am excited to get started. I have not decided yet if I plan to release the names of the 5 sites that I am going to be focusing on. I hope this works or else I will be coming back to thin sites in a few months…

Dec 2009 MPLX MarkDown MakeGood

I just went into my EPN account and looked at payment history and then clicked on my outstanding balance and it displayed this: Dec 2009 MPLX MarkDown makegood. That is the other make-good that eBay owes us from December. Mine came in at $15.40.

That is the only thing showing in my outstanding balance. Decembers commissions should be added into that shortly.

Back on Track

Well my EPN earnings are back on track after my little host problem. They are not like they where in December but that is to be expected. Yesterday was my best day so far this month coming in at $82.79. Most days so far this month have been in the $60 dollar range. With the exception of my lowest day of $15.32 which was caused by my host issue.

So far this month I have been off to a slow start on site productions. I have about 4 sites in process but want to do new stuff with them. This requires some design and coding which is slowing me down a bit. One of the ideas I want to play with is PPC. I would like to try and buy some cheap traffic (5 cents) from like 7search.com and see what kind of results I can get. If I can buy traffic at .05 per click and maybe make .10 per click that is a .05 per click profit. Then I could determine how much traffic I want to send in a sense determining how much money I want to make. I am setting up a domain just for this purpose so that I can track every aspect to determine profitability. The last thing I want to do is lose money. I am not going to use AdWords because I feel I would have to pay too much for the traffic. Once I get this setup and running I will let everyone know my success or maybe failure.

December 2009 EPN Challenge

Well here it is about an hour into 2010. I did not get my 31 sites in for this month like I wanted. Instead I got 24 finished. I am going to let it at that. I got some great ideas for some upgrades to my current sites. So I am going to take the first few days or maybe a week in January to work on those. Then you should see some more sites popping up.

I got 1 new domain and 2 expired domains already lined up and waiting to be developed. Those were going to be sites 25, 26 and 27 but I just ran out of time with the holidays and spending time with my family.

Once all of Decembers earnings are in I want to post all my expenses, earnings and profits for the month.

I really went out with a bang in 2009, earning just under $7,000 in the last quarter from EPN. I am just not sure what this new year will bring. Last year January was a good month for me. I am really hoping that I can top that $7,000 in the first quarter of 2010.

I contribute my success to finding something that earned me money and then duplicating it. Focus and commitment also played a big part. Every night after my family went to sleep I put in 1 – 3 hours of work. Very rarely did I stray and take a night off. Also don’t spend your time searching google for ways to make money online. I find myself doing this still to this day. You can do it… just get your work done first. Set yourself a goal for those few hours each night. Once you achieve that goal then you can google your extra time away.

Holiday Update

The holiday is really putting a kink in my December challenge. I still have 9 more sites yet to do. I will probably cram 3 a day into the last 3 days of this month if I can. I have a pile of cd’s that I need to import into iTunes tonight for my wife since she just got an iPod touch for Christmas. Once I get her straightened out I will get back on to the challenge. Hopefully tomorrow night. Just wanted to drop in with an update while I am in between imports….

Christmas Gift from EPN

I was shocked to find my November payment of $2,325.52 in my PayPal account today! Looks like EPN paid us early this month. Maybe it was like a Christmas gift from them
